Love Oyedepo Ogah, daughter of Bishop David Oyedepo—founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel)—has shared a gripping personal account of a failed assassination attempt on her father that occurred during her childhood.
In a video posted to her Instagram page on Tuesday, Mrs. Ogah reflected on the harrowing incident while preaching a sermon titled “Building a Successful Marriage.” The story, she said, has stayed with her ever since that traumatic night in their family home.
“I remember when we were growing up—I believe I was in secondary school then—one particular night, we were visited in our house by hired killers,” she recounted. “They came into our home with a clear mission, saying from the gate, ‘We’re here to execute him.’ By ‘him,’ they meant my father, Bishop David Oyedepo.”
According to Mrs. Ogah, the armed assailants stormed the house and combed every room in search of the bishop, unaware that he was observing them the entire time from a concealed vantage point.
“The most interesting thing I’ll never forget in my life, which has stuck with me since I was a child, was that he was looking at them the entire time, but they couldn’t see him,” she said. “They ransacked our house for hours. There was a time we hid behind the door, and at one point, the door hit my face. My entire top gum came off—it was dangling. They came ready to execute.”
Despite the terrifying encounter, Bishop Oyedepo emerged unharmed. Mrs. Ogah said the family was in shock when he calmly appeared after the intruders left, having somehow evaded detection even after his room was searched.
“After they ransacked the whole house, my aunt came in crying, ‘Oh my God, where is he?’ And my father came out of his room. We all looked at each other like it was a film trick. He said, ‘I was staring at them the entire time.’ They entered his room, looked around, but couldn’t see him,” she recounted.
Mrs. Ogah shared the testimony as an illustration of divine protection and the importance of spiritual conviction. She used the narrative to encourage believers to pursue a deeper, personal connection with God.
“When you’re in the centre of God’s will for your life, challenges will come to test what you stand on. You can’t fake this thing forever,” she warned.
“And that’s why I’m begging you, for your destiny, to know God for yourself. There are plenty of enemies that want to execute you. But when you’re in God, you come from a place of victory. They can’t touch you.”
Her testimony has since resonated with many online, drawing renewed attention to stories of faith, divine intervention, and spiritual resilience in the face of danger.
