Former Minister of Transportation and one-time presidential aspirant, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has called on Nigerians to transcend ethnic and religious divides and embrace peace, unity, and compassion as the pathway to national prosperity.
In his Easter message to the nation, Amaechi—also a former governor of Rivers State—lamented the rise in senseless killings across the country and criticized the government’s inability to fulfill its core responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.
“The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. Government owes this basic duty to the people and must act decisively to stop the violence and bloodshed,” Amaechi said.
He expressed concern that insecurity continues to undermine national development and urged leaders and citizens alike to come together in love and purpose.
“We may be a country of diverse ethnic groups and religions, but in achieving our collective goals, we must set aside those differences and move forward as one nation to reach greater heights,” he stated.
Amaechi emphasized that Nigeria has the human and natural resources to succeed, but it must channel those strengths through unity, resilience, and purposeful leadership.
“If we unite in peace and purpose, we can overcome our challenges and become the great nation we all desire,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to embody the true spirit of Easter—love, sacrifice, and renewal—by showing kindness to one another and recommitting to building a stronger, more inclusive country.
“We have the resources, we have the people. What we need now is renewed focus, determination, and resilience—with strength of character and clarity of purpose—to build a better Nigeria and reposition our country for greatness.”
Amaechi concluded his message by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
